Wednesday, October 21, 2015

Since branching out on my own to work full-time for Travel Write Draw, I have had to nail down my daily uniform to a perfect science. I simply don't have the brain capacity to conceive of new looks everyday for every different meeting, lunch, pr press event, and pitch I go to. So here it is, My Perfect Outfit, now on Lucky Shops:

Harper's Bazaar Commission: Fashion Month Illustrated

Thursday, October 15, 2015

From the time I was a little girl, I have LOVED reading Harper's Bazaar. The look and feel of the magazine, the way the photos seemed larger than life, for me it was the the holy grail of fashion magazines. That is why when I got the email confirming I would be partnering with them on 5 illustrations from this September's fashion week season, I was over the moon elated!! Fashion's Front Line: Illustration for The Kit Canada

Sunday, October 4, 2015

There was much talk this season about Givenchy designating a certain number of tickets to their show for the general public. I for one thought it was a genius idea. Fashion doesn't have to be so elitist. SO when Toronto's fashion publication, The Kit, approached me about illustrating the public line at the show, I jumped at the opportunity to do so. I went down to Pier 26 where the show was being held on September 11. It was going to be an event that both celebrated New York and commemorated the heartbreak of 9/11. It looked as though the sky was glistening just for that occasion! I took photos of the excited students and Givenchy enthusiasts and put together the illustration you see printed in the paper above. Such a cool assignment to work on, especially for my hometown!!

Harper's BAZAAR 12 Fashion Illustrators to Follow

Sunday, October 4, 2015

In the midst of all this crazy amazing stuff happening with Vanity Fair and Karlie Kloss regramming my illustration of her during NYFW, I somehow managed to make it onto the Harper's Bazaar revised list of 12 Fashion Illustrators to Follow on Instagram. When this list came out a year ago, September 2014, I was so sad to not make the cut. BUT it fuelled me that much more to keep pushing and getting bigger partnerships and more awareness of Travel Write Draw. The moral here: never say never, it isn't over till you quit, work harder than you ever dreamed imaginable, and do cool shit....I think that just about sums it up :)

VANITY FAIR: Front Row Fixtures Illustrations from NYFW!!

Sunday, October 4, 2015

This NYFW I really wanted to do a unique editorial partnership that differed from last season's Lucky Magazine collaboration. I was absolutely OVER THE MOON when that partnership turned out to be with the one and only Vanity Fair!!!! From their massive Caitlyn Jenner cover this Summer, to their September issue with Taylor Swift, and now the spontaneous untouched photo shoot with Demi Lovato, Vanity Fair is absolutely trail blazing. You can imagine my excitement over having the opportunity to partner with a publication that I so deeply respect and admire. When they brainstormed the idea of having me illustrate quirky pairings front row and backstage at fashion week, I just about burst in two. Above is the sketch I did of Karlie Kloss and Kendall Jenner backstage at DVF which Karlie regrammed to her 3.2 million followers here!!!!!!!!

Above is Selena Gomez and Brooklyn Beckham at Polo Ralph Lauren.

Then I got to illustrate this incredible girl squad above sitting front row at Zac Posen, including Jennifer Hudson, Christina Hendricks, Bella Thorne, and AMY SCHUMER!!

I don't think there could have been a better pairing than Debbie Harry and Nicki Minaj sitting front row at Givenchy SS16. Nicki gave so much sass it was fantastic to draw!!

And last but certainly not least, I got to draw Beth Ditto owning the runway at the last show of the season, Marc Jacobs. To check out the full story on Vanity Fair head here Front Row Fixtures by Meagan Morrison and stay tuned for a few more posts from NYFW!!

Drawing Live at NYFW with WN Pigment Markers

Sunday, October 4, 2015

After kickstarting NYFW with E! News & Fashion Police, I jumped right into my next partnership with Winsor & Newton. This Fall they are launching their brand new pigment markers, which are soooo fun to play with btw, so we teamed up to introduce them at New York Fashion Week. I got invited to a few of my favorite designers' shows and presentations and brought the markers along for the fun. I sketched front row at Creatures of Comfort, straight from the models at Tanya Taylor and Mansur Gavriel, and created some final pieces at home in my studio. As always, you can catch more details on my Instagram @TravelWriteDraw but here are a few highlights:

E! News & Fashion Police NYFW Party!!

Sunday, October 4, 2015

Hello Lovesssss!!

I promised I would catch you all up on the happenings of this past NYFW so get ready for back to back posts detailing the partnerships and excitement that went down. This season kicked off with a bang when I was asked by E! Entertainment Television to illustrate live at their fashion week party in the Meatpacking District. This was/is arguably the biggest live event I have done to date, because I not only illustrated celebrities, but also did it while being filmed for E! News and Fashion Police. I got to sketch Melissa Rivers and Brad Goreski, the hosts of FP, all while they interviewed me. Many of my friends sent me photos and clips of the episode which aired on Sept 14th, 2015 because of course I don't own a television in New York :P! Check it out below and stay tuned for more to come.

Much love,
Meag xx
